Target Audience Research- Get Out
Our target audience for our film aims towards teenagers and college students of the age of 14-23. Our target audience, relating to gender, aims towards young women since our film is based on women as well. The Neighbor is directed toward people who are both middle and upper-class because Ally, Sarah, and Ashley all have a higher income. Because our target audience for our film is focused on high school and college students, their parents are usually still supporting them, similarly to Sarah, Ally, Ashley, and Patty, making it more reasonable to market towards both middle and upper-class.
Another film we decided to research was the movie Get Out. Our target audience is similar to theirs because in Get Out they have a high-class family who hypnotizes the lower classmen. It is similar to ours since, in our film, Ally and her friends are considered part of a higher class, whereas Patty is considered part of a lower class. In the movie Get Out, hatred is aimed towards an African American and the white family is determined to hypnotize the man so he can become their slave like they did with other African American people. This concept is similar to our film because Patty is obsessed with Ally and wants her to be a part of her life. Patty tries to take away each one of her friends one by one, starting with Sarah, so she can be in Ally's life forever.
Billboards: By utilizing billboards near places such as highways, Get Out advertises to everyone since mostly all people drive and ones who necessarily cannot are still riding in a car, meaning that almost everyone around the world can see these billboards. The billboard features the question in large words, "DO YOU BELONG IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD?", which draws attention towards people from a middle to upper class, since most people with their income live in nice, protected neighborhoods like the one presented in the billboard. By advertising the phrase "GET OUT" the movie marketing team makes viewers question why they should 'get out', eventually leading people to want to watch the movie because they are interested and wanting to know more.
Famous people: By having famous people such as Sasha Banks, Rudy Mancuso, and Soulja Boy tweet about the movie Get Out, they advertise their movie toward a younger generation as younger people use Twitter and are familiar with these specific people. Since these famous people are supporting the movie Get Out, many more people will want to go buy a movie ticket and watch it, since they trust what these famous people say about the movie.
Interviews: Interviews done by the actors and actresses from the movie Get Out advertise their upcoming movie by addressing the general basis of the movie, answering questions about the process of filming it, and playing games to promote it. By having viewers watch the interviews of the cast, they will become more interested in the general idea of the film and would potentially want to go see it since it has a twist on an original horror film. To add to this, the viewers could potentially like the personality of the actors and want to watch them in a movie.

Our film and Get Out are similar in having a horror/thriller genre and advertise their movie more toward a younger crowd. Get Out was a highly successful movie because of some factors such as entertaining interviews and good social media tactics. To make our film as successful as Get Out, I would schedule interviews with the cast of The Neighbor (my film) to entertain viewers with the general idea of the movie. I would also use a strategy such as social media to advertise our movie to inform our target audience, a younger crowd, about our upcoming film.
